Shuttlecocks - Get to know

For the casual badminton player, the shuttlecocks that are used is not really that important. You just try and hit it over the net and the game is on.

But as you play this game more and more, you tend to be picky. Which brand is better, what speed, which lasts longer, etc...

So, let's get to know this poor thing that has a very short life span.

Check-out for general info:

Some additional info including Yonex shuttlecocks speed guides:

From http://www.tagsports.co.uk/shuttle-facts.htm

"Shuttlecocks are ‘weighted’ from 76 to 84 grains (in tubes of 12). Other things being equal, 73 is the slowest and 85 the fastest (heaviest). There are 7,000 grains to one pound (0.45 kg). As a quick guide each grain adds approximately 4” to the length of flight.

Yonex shuttles are numbered 2 (76-77), 3 (77-79), 4 (79-80) and 5 (80-84). "

From personal experience, I prefer to play with Yonex Aerosensa 5 with Yonex speed of 3. How about you guys out there?
